City Manager Norman McNickle Announces Retirement After Four Decades of Service

(Stillwater, OK) – After more than 46 years of service to the City of Stillwater, City Manager Norman McNickle announced Monday that he is retiring. McNickle requested an Executive Session with Mayor Joyce and Council to discuss his decision. He will remain City Manager through approval of the FY24 budget (before June 1, 2023). He also agreed to help with leadership transition of his successor.

(Stillwater, OK) — The Stillwater City Council has approved a resolution setting an election date for City Council seats 1 and 2. The general election will be held Feb. 14, 2023 and, if necessary, a runoff election will be held April 4.

Mayor and Council Support Efforts to Balance Budget and Retain Employees

(STILLWATER, OK) – Annually, City of Stillwater (COS) Leadership review department budgets, revenues and expenses, anticipated expenses to complete the fiscal year, and balance budgets per the law, while preparing for the upcoming fiscal year. Though General Fund revenues are increasing and sales tax collections are at an all-time high, action from Council was necessary to ensure a balanced budget due to three main reasons.

Response data from 2021 shared at the Council meeting this evening reflects there were more answered service call-outs than the previous year, six presidential declared disasters managed, and numerous severe weather deployments.
