City Council to consider a face covering ordinance among other items at its July 6 meeting

(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / July 2, 2020) – Stillwater City Council and Stillwater Utilities Authority will meet over videoconference for a special meeting this Monday, July 6. Consideration of an ordinance requiring the use of face coverings in public is among the items on the agenda.

The meeting will be held over Zoom, a videoconference platform. Residents are encouraged to watch virtually, though the Council Hearing Room at the Stillwater Municipal Building (723 S. Lewis St.) will be open to the public. Face coverings are required in the Council Hearing Room, and will be provided to residents upon entry.

In response to the COVID-19 virus and the ongoing social distancing guidance issued by President Trump, Governor Stitt, and national and state public health entities, amendments were made to the Open Meetings Act that allow for public bodies subject to the Open Meetings Act to hold “virtual meetings” via videoconference and teleconference.
