(Stillwater, OK) — The Stillwater Regional Airport Director Paul Priegel will depart soon for a new journey. Priegel has served the city for over 17 years, serving as a police officer before retiring and moving to the airport in 2017.
As director, Priegel has facilitated over $20 million in capital projects including new equipment and airfield improvements and has also lined up funding opportunities for an upcoming $40 million commercial terminal and air traffic control tower project. “I am proud of the progress we have made and the future of the Stillwater Regional Airport is bright” says Paul Priegel.
In addition to capital improvements, Priegel was instrumental in maintaining commercial air service through the travel downturn of COVID. Passenger numbers have not only rebounded to pre-COVID levels but the service has continued to thrive. American Airlines recently upgraded to larger aircraft, adding more seats to the market and premium passenger options.
Priegel’s leadership and involvement spans decades where he has remained active at a local, state and national level. Priegel recently served as the President of the Oklahoma Airport Operators Association and serves in many roles with the American Association of Airport Executives to include the Vice-Chair of the National Academic Relations Committee, the US Contract Tower Policy Board and the Oklahoma Director for the South Central Regional Chapter.
The City of Stillwater will begin a nationwide search to fill the director vacancy.
