What We're Doing

The City is microsurfacing the following streets as part of the FY19 Pavement Management Program: University Street (Western Road to Monroe Street) Husband Street (6th Avenue to Maple Street) Washington Street (Lakeview Road to Richmond Road)

Anticipated Milestones

  • Anticipated Date (Design): 05.20.2019

  • Anticipated Date (Construction): 04.2020

  • Anticipated Date (Completion): 06.2020

Benefits of the Project

Microsurfacing is a cost-effective method to renew the road surface and seal minor cracks and other irregularities with a thin, tough layer of asphalt emulsion blended with finely crushed stone for traction. This protective seal coat extends the life of the pavement and improves the ride until resurfacing or reconstruction becomes necessary. Roadways selected for microsurfacing treatment are commonly those which have slight to moderate distress, no rutting, and generally narrow crack widths.
